According to historical records, Shaoxing daughter red wine originated in the Jin Dynasty more than 1,600 years ago. In ancient Shaoxing, when a daughter was born, her parents would sculpt or paint several jars of wine and bury them in the ground, and then take them out to entertain guests when their daughter got married. This is how Daughter’s wine got its name.
